Reliable communication
Combining a proven durable hardware platform with flexible and
user-friendly configuration software, the IMS effectively manages,
modifies, escalates and tracks messages and events. An embedded
Linux server with a web-based user interface makes installation and
maintenance simple. An Open Access Protocol (OAP) allows
applications to be completely customizable by users to fit specific
needs.
Two-way messaging
Ascom advanced two-way communication allows quick response to
messages and events. An external system can query and record
detailed responses and actions, while previously delivered messages
can be remotely deleted
based on system events or mobile user response. With the press of a
button, a message can be escalated to a backup recipient.
The IMS also enables Ascom
portable handsets to generate different alarms and
mobile-originated data. Alarm messages identify the
portable handset, type of alarm, as well as system and
connecting base station. When integrated with the Ascom
UNITE messaging suite, the IMS opens the door for a wide
range of application specific messaging platforms.
Detailed audit trail
The IMS time-stamps and captures all events, such as
message delivery and user response which is stored by
Ascom Communications Server (ACS). This audit trail
provides reporting necessary for performance assessment
exercises and it’s this unique functionality that makes
the IMS ideal for support of continuous improvement and
regulatory compliance.
Central phonebook directory
A mobile user can query a common central phonebook stored anywhere
on the network. Central administration allows users to be added or
deleted from the common database — eliminating the need to update
each portable handset individually. The IMS also allows local
phonebook storage for an all-in-one, reliable messaging server.
