  IT communication management
It is often challenging for an IT department to manage the various combinations of local and wide area communication systems. Even more difficult is managing the ongoing data flow and notifications from manufacturing and processing equipment.

The ACS, a component of the Ascom UNITE Messaging Suite, is the most advanced, flexible com-munications server that can interface with a variety of com-munication systems. In addition, user-based messaging solutions and customized notification sol-utions are available to interface users and applications in existing communication infrastructures. The ACS provides an extensive library for onsite and wide area communication networks and devices.

Messaging
User based solutions. Users can utilize a web browser interface to send text messages to all defined users in the system.
Automated notification solutions. Over 100 gateways to enable third party applications in clinical, IS and facilities departments to send
text messages.

Standard features
Hardware Server. Embedded Linux server with Ascom application software.

User Profiles. A database stored in the ACS that defines all users within the system as well
as their associated communication devices. This database can be accessed by all users via the Web Messaging Client to send text messages.

Optional features
Duty Assignment Client (DAC). A Webbased graphic interface allowing users to assign themselves to specific alarms and events and define escalation paths. The DAC can be used as the single interface for staff assignment on multiple systems.

NetPage. An interface that allows any user to send text messages via a web browser to all defined users in the system.

External Carrier Gateway (ECG). Allows the ACS to transmit text messages and receive acknowledgement from external messaging carriers. The ECG supports TAP, SNPP and SMTP messaging protocols.

Mass communication
Using the ACS, manufacturing and processing plants can interface best-of-breed applications with any communication network and device. Due to the embedded hardware platform for high availability, information flow and reliability can be maintained at a rate of 99% and higher. Communication is critical in today’s high tech manufacturing and processing environment. Ascom provides a proven, reliable communication platform that  meets the needs of the most demanding production facilities.
