About Special Care Systems

Special Care Systems, LLC is a healthcare communications company serving a continuum of care, from In-Home Care on up through to the largest of Acute Care Hospitals.

We are Central and Western New York’s leading healthcare communications integrators and pride ourselves on a common sense approach to communications, working with our customers to propose the best possible solution.

We continually strive to understand the concerns and challenges to caregivers in providing the best of care for seniors, residents and patients.

Our Team

Special Care Systems has over 60 years of combined experience in the field of healthcare communications. Our management team is as follows:

Ann Kowal Ann Kowal, President/co-founder/ Managing Partner
Business Administration, Loyola College - Maryland

Ann is responsible for the overall operations of the company, financial, contractual and legal. She is a former President of Webster Chamber of Commerce and a Board Member of Webster Community Coalition for Economic Development. Ann is also a mentor for the Young Entrepreneurs Association.

Frank Cummings Frank Cummings, Vice President of Technical Services

Frank oversees the entirety of Special Care’s technical operations, from installation to service. He has 25 years of experience as Technical Supervisor/Area Manager for major NYS Communications Integrators. He also has an additional 10 years of experience in Technical Field Installation and Service. Frank is a Licensed Master Electrician, and has served as Project Manager for numerous multi-million dollar new and retrofit installations. He has Technical Training Certificates in all major products.

  Jackie Farrow, Business Office Manager
Business Administration, SUNY Oswego

From billing to logistics, service to sales, Jackie is the friendly face of Special Care Systems to ensure your problem gets solved. Jackie has over 20 years in customer service, sales, sales support, and retention.

Myron Kowal Myron Kowal, Consultant/ Co-founder.
BA in Philosophy, SUNY Oswego

Over 20 years of experience in the Health Care Communications Industry. Technical training certificates in all major products represented. Sales and marketing for all engineered systems. Past President of G.R.A.P.E. (Greater Rochester Area Partnership for the Elderly). President of Response Care Inc.

Brian Gray, Systems Sales Engineer.
BA in Marketing, SUNY Buffalo.

7 years experience in communications sales and communications integration. Major Accounts Manager for Nextel Partners Wireless Telecom Division. Quality Assurance Technician for Harris RF Communication. Certifications in all Special Care Products as well as Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certification.

 

Bill McAvaney, Field Technician Specialist

Bill has over 32 years experience in voice and data communications including 2 years as voice Specialist in the U.S. Army,  14 years as a technician/ manager for international data communications company, and 16 years as a field technician/manager for a local voice communications company. He has an additional 2 years experience in nurse call, system intergration and wireless communications as field technician. Technician Training Certificates in all major products.

Gregory Cole, Field Technician Specialist

Gregory has been working in various technical fields for the better part of two decades and has experience in fields ranging from Automechanics, to Music Instrument Repair, to Computer and Network Service. Currently, Gregory specializes in the Computer and Networking Infrastructure side of Healthcare Communication Services, as well as Creative Problem Solving.

Norm Crouse, Field Technician Specialist
BS Environmental Sciences, Belford University

Norm has been working in networking and in the technical field for the last 15 years. He has experience in Engineering, installation, final test and certification on the use of various types of specialized systems ranging from Nurse Call, Intercom Paging, Wireless VIOP Phones, Audio Video and Security. Norm also served in the US Navy as a Navy Machinery repairman as a Second Class Petty Officer.

Matt Elder, Field Technician Specialist

Matt has been in the Voice and Data Technical Field for the past 10 Years. He has spent the last decade working as a Lead Tech overseeing Voice and Data cabling as well as discovery, programming, and installation of Rolm, Avaya and Panasonic Systems. Matt is certified in Avaya systems and has been field trained in Intego Nurse Call Systems.

Greg Meade, Technical Consultant
BS Mechanical Engineering, Villanova University

Greg has an engineering background, but also has experience in technical documentation, information systems, marketing, sales, and technical support. Greg specializes in assisted and independent senior living solutions.

Richard Moore, Senior Technical Consultant

With over 22 years in the telecommunications and IT industry, Richard is the man with all the answers. Richard specializes in telephony, VOIP, Linux systems, and wireless networks. He has served in multiple major integration projects and has numerous manufacturer training certificates, including all Special Care Systems products.
